Great Find

Tuesday, February 28, 2012

Whenever I have down time at work (which isn't very often) I'm googling decorating sites to get ideas on how I want to decorate our little lemon's nursery.  I think I'm 100% set on the grey, yellow, white combo.  Perhaps with a pop of turquoise.  I love those colors together.  And as previously stated, I'm kinda obsessed with owls right now.  While doing a little googling this morning I came across this pattern for crib bedding...

I just love it.  It is definitely at the top of my list at this point.  It screams perfect to me.

Overwhelming

Monday, February 27, 2012

Over the weekend C&I went to Babies R Us to 'look around'.  It's a little premature for us to register so we thought we'd get some ideas and check out some of the latest and greatest baby needs.  Can you say overwhelming?  My poor little head was spinning from all the car seat choices to the abundance of strollers.  There's just way too many options!  I'm such an indecisive person to begin with that when you give me more than 3 options I clam up and can't make a decision for the life of me.  Registering is going to be interesting.

We did decide that we want white furniture for the nursery.  We found 2 sets at Babies R Us that are candidates.  I love white furniture in a nursery.  It just screams baby to me.

We glanced at the bedding.  What a joke.  Maybe I'm too plain but I hated everything I saw there.  I'm such a simple and modern person.  Bedding with animals all over it or butterflies just doesn't do it for me.  It's too much, too busy.  The only thing I saw that I semi liked was a girly bedding set that had owls in it.  So cute.  But it was just too much pink.  Even if we decide to find out the gender and this little lemon is a girl, I can't have a pink nursery.  I however do have a mad obsessions for owls right now so I think they will definitely make an appearance somewhere in the nursery.  Whether it's just an owl pillow as decoration or a framed owl print.  It's getting incorporated.

While we were at Target I stumbled across this lamp.  It is perfect for that pop of turquoise/teal that I'm thinking of incorporating.  I didn't buy it but now I'm thinking I should have.

I purchased a body pillow over the weekend and had such a great, comfortable night's sleep last night.  What a world of difference it made.  I don't know how I slept without it before, even not pregnant.

Framed

Friday, February 24, 2012

The hubs drove by our future new home and was shocked to see how far they have come in 9 days.  It's framed!  We have a roof!

It's amazing how fast builders throw up new homes.  I still can't believe it will be ours in a few months.  I can't wait to move in, decorate, organize, nest and then be home with my baby.

Since I looked like a hot mess in my previous 14 week photo here is one I snapped this morning before work with matching clothes, hair brushed and makeup on.

So addicted to stripes.

14 Weeks

Thursday, February 23, 2012

Our little peach has turned into a lemon today!

Today I had a doctor's appointment. I got to hear the little lemon's heartbeat for the first time!  I'm a little bummed that C wasn't there with me to hear it.  It was truly amazing.  The heartbeat was high at 160.  Use that however you'd like to formulate your guess on the gender.  I'm still saying I think it's a girl.

I expressed my concern to my doc about my lower back pain I've been experiencing lately.  It's my sciatic nerve, as I suspected.  I'm considering scheduling a massage in the hopes to help subside the pain a little.

Here's a pic I just snapped to document my 14 week mark.  Don't mind the hideous hair or outfit.  I'm in the midst of cleaning.

I've decided that I will be answering the following questions weekly to help document my pregnancy.

How far along?  14 weeks.
Maternity clothes?  Purchased a few things.  Definitely loving my maternity leggings!
Stretch marks?  No (let's keep it that way, k?)
Sleep:  Sleeping great up until my 3:00 a.m. bathroom run.  After that it's hard for me to fall back asleep and then as soon as I do BAM my alarm goes off.
Best moment this week:  Hearing the heartbeat for the first time!
Have you told family and friends: Yes!
Miss Anything?  Sushi.  I've been craving it this week.
Movement:  Not yet.
Food cravings:  Sweets which is odd since I never really ate them before I was pregnant.
Anything making you queasy or sick:  Store bought lettuce.  I can't make myself a salad every night like I used it.  The smell and look of it makes me want to gag.
Have you started to show yet:  Looking a tad chubby and definitely seeing a bump form!
Gender prediction:  Girl.  Still working on the hubs to change his mind about finding out the gender.
Labor Signs:  No
Belly Button in or out?  In
Wedding rings on or off?  On
Happy or Moody most of the time:  Happy!
Looking forward to:
  Shopping for nursery furniture!

Nursery Ideas

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

I ventured to the Mall of America last weekend by myself since the hubs decided to go fishing.  I figured it was probably for the best.  He isn't much of a shopper and personally, neither am I.  I like to only go if I have something I'm shopping for and be able to get in and out.  Unfortunately, there is no getting in and out of the MOA.  It's such a zoo.  And last Saturday it was no different.

I did manage to find a couple things to spice up my wardrobe.  First and foremost, more leggings!  I've been living in leggings.  They are just so comfy and all I want to wear right now.  According to a few friends, it's all I'm going to want to wear this entire pregnancy - which is fine by me!  Thank goodness they are in style.  I've been addicted to the Motherhood leggings that have the full panel.  I just purchased 2 more pair.  I love love love the panel (a/k/a spanx for my stomach).  I also purchased a few new shirts, altho after bringing them home I realized they were a little too casual for the office.  Which means another shopping trip is in my future.

The hubs and I are struggling to see eye to eye on finding out the gender of our little peach. (Tomorrow he/she is a lemon!)  He is adamant on not finding out until I give birth.  I however want to find out as soon as we are able.  I'm a planner.  I want the nursery finished before he/she gets here.  I want to know if there is a boy or girl inside of me.  I think it would also help with the bonding process.  But I guess I can also see his point of view in wanting to wait.  I really have no preference as to if our peach is a boy or girl.  As long as my baby is healthy and has all 10 fingers and toes, I'm happy.  Altho I have to admit that I have a weird feeling it's a girl.

So with that said I've been collecting nursery ideas on Pinterest.  Our new home will not be finished until mid-May so I have a little more time to collect my ideas.  So far here are a few ideas I'm tossing around.

I am in love with grey, white and yellow.  You might have noticed that from the colors of my blog.  They are actually the same colors as my photography website too.  Addicted.  So I'm tossing around this color palette.  It would go great for either a boy or girl if we decide to keep the nursery gender neutral.  The owl in the pic is just an added bonus since I kinda love owls right now too.

I also really really really love this grey, white, yellow with a pop of turquoise nursery.  The pop of pink is definitely super fun if it's a girl.  It's very much my style.  I actually stole the pop of turquoise for my blog design :)

Stars.  Obviously this would only happen if we found out we were having a girl.  Stars have a huge personal meaning to me.  I have one tattooed on the inside of my wrist in remembrance of my Gram.

Stripes.  If I were to have one room in our new house stripes, I would love to have that the nursery.  I'm not a huge orange person so I'd definitely switch that up with yellow.  I love these stripes because they aren't too much.  Sometimes the stripes get to be overpowering but these seem to be just perfect.

So, as you can see, my ideas are kind of all over the place.  I keep telling the hubs that finding out the baby's gender would definitely make this so much easier.  He's not buying it tho.  I have a few more weeks to work on him :)

Partying vs. Pregnancy

Tuesday, February 21, 2012

Found this while I was surfing the internet today.  I think it explains life as I know in this very moment.

For the record, I have finally joined the group of ladies who need to cross their legs as soon as they sense a sneeze coming on.  Lovely!

Maternity Style

Friday, February 17, 2012

Today is jeans day at the office.  I love jeans day.  Except the fact that most of my jeans will not button right now.  It made getting ready this morning interesting.  I luckily got my favorite pair of jeggings on today.  They even buttoned!  Huge accomplishment.  They aren't 100% comfortable while sitting but I'm happy that they still button and fit.  Hopefully I can rock these for a the next couple weeks.

I've been scouring the internet for cute maternity clothes.  Granted I don't need to wear them at this point.  I actually want to tho.  Maybe it's because I'm not nauseous anymore, but I'm starting to enjoy being pregnant and am embracing my changing figure.  I want people to look at me and realize I'm pregnant (not just chubby).  I feel like the majority of maternity clothes I have seen online are just ehhh for me.  Nothing is standing out as stylish or cute.  And those are two things I definitely want to be during this pregnancy.  For the record, you will not catch me dead in a "tent shirt".  Even if people claim that's all I will want to wear at some point.

I'm hoping I can convince the hubs to brace the Mall of America with me at some point this weekend.  The MOA seems to be the only place around here with a Gap Maternity & Destination Maternity.  While I don't love going to the MOA (hate it actually), I'm willing to suck it up if it means I can find some cute, stylish pieces for my wardrobe.  It's all about sacrifice people.

Today I'm wearing my new sweater I purchased from Macy's the other day.  It's from A Pea in the Pod.  Nothing is really exciting about this but it's definitely me and my style (or lack thereof).  I'm a huge fan of stripes and, of course, black.  Here's a shot from this morning...

Tonight we are going to the Jason Aldean concert with friends.  I can't wait.  I can honestly say I'm not thrilled to be the sober cab.  However, I am thrilled to know that I will not wake up with a hangover tomorrow and get to enjoy my weekend while my husband will probably be on the couch all day.  A little pregnancy bonus!

13 Weeks

Thursday, February 16, 2012

Today marks 13 weeks!  I'm almost finished with the first trimester.  Gosh, that went by so quickly!  I am one-third of the way finished!  Baby N is the size of a peach this week.  She/he is growing so quickly.  Which, of course, has resulted in me growing too!  My favorite black work pants that I tend to wear all too often during the week have decided not to button anymore.  Jerk!  I tried the rubber band trick.  I was really hoping that would get me some more weeks in my work pants.  But, unfortunately, I did not find that comfortable at all.  My sister-in-law was nice enough to lend me her belly band.  So, I gave that a whirl.  It was more comfortable than the rubber band trick however I hated adjusting the band every time I got up from my desk.

So... yesterday I found myself at Macy's in their maternity department.  Ohhh, I love Macy's.  What a great selection!  They have A Pea in the Pod & Motherhood there.  Not to mention a large clearance rack that I definitely took advantage of.  I splurged and purchased 2 pair of work pants (BOGO 1/2 off) a sweater from A Pea in the Pod which I probably spent more than I should have on, some more leggings and a tank.  I wore my new maternity work pants today and all I can say is AHHHHH!  So much more comfortable!  I know a lot of women do not like the panel on maternity pants but I have to say, I love it!  It's like Spanx for your stomach.  Genius really.

I have failed with my weekly belly photos.  I had every intention to start them at week 8/9.  I kept telling myself, tomorrow I will take a pic... tomorrow...  So, this is my goal for the weekend.  Altho I don't love starting my belly pics at 13 weeks, but it is what it is.  If I don't start now, I probably never will.

So with that said, here is a camera phone pic from this morning.  Check out that bump :)

Ok, so it's not huge, but you can definitely tell I have a bump!  Today I also announced on FB our pregnancy with this pic C&I took while we were in Florida a few weeks ago...

I don't love my thunder thighs in this pic, but I do love how happy C&I look :)

I've finally have my energy back.  I no longer go to sleep at 7:30.  I can stay up til 10 now!  I still haven't started those pregnancy DVDs I had to run out and purchase as soon as I confirmed my pregnancy.  It's another one of those things I keep telling myself - tomorrow...

I don't think Tiko has realized yet that his life is going to be turned upside down in about 6 months.  They say dogs can sense pregnancy and sometimes do weird things before the baby comes.  Tiko must be an exception to this.  He is still his lazy self who is still mama's boy.  I'm really hoping he does well with the peach.  He's always been my boy so I'm really nervous he's going to be a tad jealous of me.  I guess time will tell.  Until then I've been sure to give him extra belly rubs and cuddles.

Time is Flying

Thursday, February 9, 2012

I told myself I was not going to neglect my blog.  I told myself I was going to blog weekly - even if I didn't have anything fascinating to say.  I failed already.

The past few weeks have been busy.  I know, it's no excuse.  But on top of that I've been sick.  I started off with a cough that would not go away.  I literally was sleeping in the guest bedroom because I was hacking so hard and loud at night.  Finally that went away and now I'm stuck with a head cold.  I just can't win.

On January 26th I had another ultrasound.  I was supposed to be 9w4d but was measuring right at 10 weeks.  I rather be a little ahead of schedule versus behind.  Everything was perfect.  Our peanut had a nice strong heartbeat of 178.  I couldn't be happier to hear that.  I even got another picture to take home with me.  And this time he/she actually looks like a baby!

So by the calculations of our last ultrasound I am 12 weeks today!  3 months!  I was going to wait until 13 weeks before I told anyone at work but I'm spilling the beans today.  Why not right?  Besides, it is getting harder and harder to find something that doesn't show my little bump every morning.  Today I'm sporting boots, leggings and one of my new favorite maternity shirts I got on the Target clearance rack.  There's no hiding it today.  I'm anxiously waiting for my office manager to get in as I type so I can tell her and stop hiding my belly with files every time I get up.

C&I went down to Florida with his parents last week for a few days.  It was such a nice and relaxing trip.  We visited Ft. Myers, Sanibel Island, Naples and Marco Island.  We lounged at the beach and overindulged in the restaurants.  While shopping I came across a Gap Maternity and stocked up on a few shirts and even purchased my first pair of maternity pants for work.  Ekkk!  Everything was on clearance so I didn't feel bad splurging a little.  The weather couldn't have been more perfect.  Sunny and 80+ everyday.  I could really get used to that.  By the end of our trip I had C convinced that someday we would retire in Florida :)

In other news, we signed the contract on our new home.  We stopped by last weekend and were surprised to see that the foundation has already been poured.  We have an estimated closing date of May 15th!  It'll be here before we know it.  I cannot wait to move in, start decorating and nesting.  It's going to be so nice to have a yard, basement, more than 1 shower and a 3 car garage.  Oh and storage!  We are going to feel like we live in a castle compared to our little townhouse we now have.  I have to say, 2012 is really turning into quite the year!
