19 Weeks

Week 19. Here we are. One week away from being 1/2 way through this pregnancy.  I can't even believe it.  I've said it before, I'll say it again.  Time is flying by.  I have a feeling the second half of my pregnancy is going to fly by as well.  We are closing on our house in 6 weeks, moving in, celebrating my birthday (important stuff), registering for the mango, baby shower #1 in Minn, baby shower #2 in Chicago, maternity photos, in between all of that getting settled in our house, and of course decorating mango's nursery.  Part of me wants the time to fly by so I can hurry up and meet our baby and another part of me wants things to slow down and enjoy me & C's time together before becoming a family of 3 - errr I mean 4 .. including Tiko :)

Here is my belly pic from this morning - 19w1d.

I've come to the conclusion that I wear the color grey WAY too much.  Almost every week I've worn grey for my weekly pics.  I swear, this was not planned.  I clearly need to start buying color when I shop.

How far along?  19w1d
Maternity clothes?  Still a mixture.  The pants are a must at this point.
Stretch marks?  Absolutely not... yet anyways.  Hopefully I'll be lucky and not get them?  *crossing fingers*
Sleep:  I have been alot more tired this week.  I've been falling asleep earlier than I usually do.  Not sure if it has to do with the pregnancy or just having a busy week.
Best moment this week:  Having people come for showings at the t-house.  We seriously didn't think we'd get showings so quickly!
Miss Anything?  A nice glass of wine would totally hit the spot right now.  Eventhough I have heard one glass is fine during pregnancy, I refuse to do it.
Movement:  Absolutely!  He/She has been moving a lot this week.  I love it!
Food cravings:  Still enjoying that ice cold milk!  I'm convinced this baby will come out with a milk mustache.
Anything making you queasy or sick:  Store bought lettuce.  Still!  What gives?
Gender:  Eventhough we call the baby by our selected boy name I still think he's a she.
Labor Signs:  No
Belly Button in or out?  In.
Wedding rings on or off?  On.  Unless I eat something salty (which I've been trying to avoid). Then I have to take them off because my fingers turn into sausages.
Happy or Moody most of the time:  Happy!  Duh, how can I not be?  I'm having a baby :)
Looking forward to:  The weekend.  Spending time outdoors with C&Tiko.

Did you notice the new iPhone case?  Yes, I finally ditched the hot pink.  I've been so over it for a while but never could find the perfect case to replace it.  That was until I stumbled upon the Pencil Shavings Studio on Etsy.  There were a bunch of fun choices to choose from.  I ultimately chose "pool" from the Mermaid Lagoon Collection.  So fun for the summer!

Back to pregnancy talk.  I was riding the elevator up with a woman this morning who was pregnant.  We chit chatted on our way up about how far along we were, due dates and such.  She was 23 weeks and her belly was definitely bigger than mine.  She mentioned she thought I was carrying very high.  I've heard this before but haven't really paid any attention to it.  Doing a side by side comparison with her made it all very obvious how much higher I actually was.  Perhaps she was carrying extra low?  Who really knows.  She guessed I was having a girl.  I love that strangers even have to weigh in on the gender guesses.

This weekend is going to be awesome.  Mostly because of this...

The weekend is going to be perfect.  And 81 on Sunday?  Really?  I can't stinkin' wait.  This is uncalled for in March/April in Minnesota.  I hope to spend the weekend outdoors and get a little sun on my pasty skin.

Our real estate agent informed us we have 4 (so far) showings on Saturday.  One of which is a couple who was over on Wednesday and really liked our t-house, hence coming back for another peek.  Fingers crossed we get a renter this weekend!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Week 19 has begun today!

According to thebump.com at 19 weeks our baby is the size of a mango.

And according to babycenter.com this is what our baby looks like inside my belly.

I didn't have a chance to snap a pic with my phone this morning before I left for work so that will have to be blogged tomorrow.  Plus I didn't wash my hair today (gasp!)

In non-baby news we listed our t-house for rent with a realtor.  Our ad went live on Tuesday at approximately 12:30 p.m.  At 4:00 p.m. our realtor called to let me know we had a showing on Wednesday afternoon.  And yesterday we booked 3 more showings!  The thought of not finding a renter and paying 2 mortgages has stressed us out a little.  We didn't know if we'd be lucky enough to get showings right away - thus resulting in lowering our monthly rent, thus resulting in not breaking even.  But now having showings booked everyday this week has made us optimistic that we will find a renter and won't have to worry or stress about paying 2 mortgages.  Keep your fingers crossed that one of these renters loves our t-house enough to sign a lease soon!

Counting the Weeks

Tuesday, March 27, 2012

We officially have 6 weeks and 2.5 days until we close on our house.  Crazy.  I can't believe how fast they our building our home.  I guess since we are the last home to be built in the subdivision they are cruising along.  And, of course, this gorgeous weather is just helping them speed things up.

C&I stopped by the house last Saturday to see the progress.  We have walls.  And paint!  It's starting to look like a house.  They will begin the trim work this week and soon after our cabinetry.  It's so fun watch the progress.  I still cannot believe it will be our home to move into in a few weeks.  The space!  Ahhh, it's going to feel like a castle compared to our tiny t-house.

Standing in our new kitchen :)

After checking out the house we went to a blinds store to get a quote on blinds for the entire house.  All I can say is thank God we are getting a nice tax refund back.  Otherwise we would totally be those people who have sheets over their windows because they cannot afford blinds.

We also stopped at a furniture store to look around.  Our current sectional that we purchased last year that we are in love with will not fit in our new family room.  It's amazing and I'm seriously burn up about not being able to have it in our new living room.  We found a possible couch and love seat that would fit perfectly in our new living room.  Hoping we can catch it on sale again so we can order it.  Otherwise anyone who comes over after we close will have to sit on the floor or a folding chair.

Just when I say that I'm getting anxious to feel our baby move, kick, punch, flutter - IT HAPPENS!

I was laying in bed Saturday morning reading my week by week pregnancy book, as I do every Saturday morning, when I felt her/him.  I wasn't sure it was really her/him at first.  Honestly, I thought maybe I had gas.  But then 40 seconds later it happened again.  And again.  I knew the only thing it could actually be is her/him moving around in there.  FINALLY!  When people describe it as popcorn popping, they are exactly right.  It's definitely what I would call it.

I stayed in bed for another 10 minutes without moving. Because me moving would make him or her stop moving all together, right?  So silly of me.  The more I thought about it the more I realized I think I have felt her/him before but I just didn't realize it.  Being able to stay still and concentrate on what I was feeling inside of me made it easy to feel her/him.  As I go about my day I never really concentrate on whether I can or can't feel anything - hence probably feeling her/him before without even realizing it.  Besides, as a first time mom I didn't even really know what any sort of movement would feel like.

I'm so thrilled I finally felt our little sweet potato!  I can't wait until C can feel her/him too!

18 Weeks

Friday, March 23, 2012

Today I am 18w1d and our baby is the size of a sweet potato!  Yesterday I had a doctor appointment which was good.  I got to hear our baby's heartbeat again which never gets old for me.  A nice strong 150.  Just a little lower than last time I heard it but apparently that's normal.  Sometimes I forget I'm pregnant.  Not sure how since my growing waistline should remind me daily.  But hearing the heartbeat every few weeks always reminds me that I have a growing baby in my belly.  Is it weird that I need a reminder sometimes?

I addressed my concerns with my doctor about my hands which have suddenly decided to swell up.  Apparently I'm retaining a ton of water.  So I really need to watch my salt intake and of course keep chugging the H2O.  I'm worried that I'll have to stop wearing my rings soon!  My poor fingers are sausages!  And if they are sausages now, what will they look like when it's 85, sunny and 100% humidity this summer?  Yikes!  I'm scared.  But it was reassuring to hear my doctor say that my sausage fingers are normal for how far along I am.  Also I  need to take into consideration our unheard of warm weather and this being my first pregnancy.  My weekly email from thebump.com even mentioned swelling this week.  So all in all, things are right on track and I am normal after all.

My next appointment is in 4 weeks and that will be the day we can learn if we are having a little girl or boy.  I think we have come to a decision on that.  We are not going to find out at our ultrasound.  Instead we will have the ultrasound tech write on a piece of paper if it's pink or blue and give it to us in a sealed envelope.  Then if we decide later to find out, we can simply open our envelope (preferably having it documented by photos).  Or we can always choose to just not open the envelope at all.

This morning at 18w1d.

Today is jeans day at work. It's nice to be in jeans for a change rather than leggings. I also busted out the wedges. Also nice to not be 5 foot 3 for a change. Everyone has commented on my height today and how they never really realized how short I really am.

How far along? 18w1d
Maternity clothes?  Here and there.  Pants - definitely.  Shirts - here and there.  Today I had on a shirt from Target that wasn't maternity.  I just bought the next size up.
Stretch marks?  None!

Sleep:  Sleep is so good right now.  I had my first dream last night about the baby's gender - boy!
Best moment this week:  Hearing the heartbeat is always a moment I will consider the best.
Miss Anything?  A nice cold cherry coke!  Altho I know I can have one from time to time.  I try to keep my caffeine to a minimum.  But a cherry coke would totally hit the spot right now.
Movement:  Still nothing.  Perhaps I'm just not noticing it since I'm not sure what exactly it's supposed to feel like?  My doc did say to me yesterday that I should start feeling him/her very soon!  So anxious!
Food cravings:  Milk.  I can't get.enough.milk!!!  I had to make a special trip to the little store in our building at work yesterday just so I could get my milk fix.  Chris keeps saying we need to invest in a cow.
Anything making you queasy or sick:  Lettuce.  Still!
Gender:  Still thinking it's a girl, even with my recent dream.
Labor Signs:  Better not have them yet!

Belly Button in or out?  In.  Altho I have noticed it's definitely getting stretched with my growing stomach!
Wedding rings on or off?  On.
Happy or Moody most of the time:  Happy!!
Looking forward to:  Starting to feel some movement.  Also, excited to check out the progress of our home tomorrow!

Team Green?

Tuesday, March 20, 2012

Today we are having a real estate agent come over to take a look at our t-house and take photos of it to market it for a renter.  C&I busted our butts last night cleaning.  Typically our house is always clean.  We are neat freaks.  But lately I've been pretty lazy about cleaning/organizing so we definitely had our work cut out for us last night.  We are keeping our fingers that she will be able to find us a renter by June 1st because paying 2 mortgages a month would not be ideal.

Last weekend while we were in Chi everyone finally had a chance to see my bump in person.  The guesses on whether we are having a boy or girl were across the board.  It's so funny that some people are so sure on whether it will be a boy or girl while others just take a stab in the dark.  I mean, clearly everyone has a 50/50 chance of being right.

I was so sure up until now that I wanted to find out whether we are having a boy or girl.  Soooo sure.  I have even picked fights with C insisting that we find out.  But now I'm having second thoughts.  I mean, I'm almost 1/2 way through this pregnancy and I obviously haven't known so I could totally get through the second 1/2 not knowing.  Right?  The thought of having the doctor tell us in delivery room that "It's a ________!" is starting to appeal to me.  However the thought of gender neutral everything scares the crap out of me.  I could design the nursery around it, not a problem.  It's the clothes that get  me.  I want a closet full before he/she arrives.  How do you accomplish that when you can't stand the thought of yellow and green everything?

Also another big reason I would like to find out the gender is so we can have a gender reveal photographed.  I am obsessed with gender reveals.  I would love to have photos of it documented and make an album out of it.  I've always thought that is how we'd find out.

Do we find out and do a gender reveal?  Do we not find out at all and let it be a surprise in the delivery room?  If we find out, do we not tell anyone?  Which would be super hard but I know we'd be able to pull it of - especially living so far from family.  I just don't know.  Thankfully I have a few more weeks until we have our anatomy ultrasound.

So... do we decide to join Team Green?

Who Has a Baby Bump?

THIS girl does!!!  17w5d.

High Five for Friday.

Friday, March 16, 2012

I cannot express how happy I am that it's Friday.  It's been a long/busy week.

I'm linking up with Lauren today to share the little things that made my week great.

1.  Finally able to call myself debt free!

2.  It hasn't happened yet, but today I will be getting my hair done (finally).  My dark roots will be gone and I might even walk out of the salon with ... wait for it ... bangs.  Or I might not.  We'll see :)

3.  The weather.  Today is going to be 77 and sunny.  77 and sunny in Minneapolis on MARCH 16th!  This is unheard of people.  I'm embracing it to the fullest and may even skip out of work early to enjoy the warmth.

4.  The barrista at Starbucks telling me today that I have a "killer figure."  Was that a pick up line?  Not sure.  But I of course thanked him, laughed hysterically and then told him he won't be saying that in a few months.  Regardless, a girl loves to hear a compliment before 8:00 a.m.

5.  My BFF telling me the best news yesterday.

Debt Free!

Thursday, March 15, 2012

I am writing this post with the biggest smile on my face.

I will be honest, I have not been the best with my money.  And, because of it, I got myself in a little credit card debt over the years.  I'd rack up the credit card and kept telling myself "next month I'll put a large chunk towards my bill."  But that never seemed to happen.  I kept racking it up and and neglecting to pay it off/down.  Maybe I thought I was going to win the lottery - who knows?

Before Christmas I got all my cards paid off with the exception of two cards with the highest balances.  The combined outstanding balance was more than I have ever had outstanding before.  I'm ashamed to even say how much the combined total was.  And sadly it was all for personal items - clothes, shoes, house stuff, hair appointments, facials... Stuff that were definitely not "needs."

I have been working very hard since Christmas to pay off this debt.  I have not shopped or purchased anything for myself (aside from some maternity clothes that I paid cash for) in the past few months.  I've been very stingy with my money.  I have stayed away from Target and have been bringing my lunch to work everyday in the hopes of saving.  I've been putting massive chunks each month towards both of my credit cards.  I seriously have been living off pennies in order to do this.

Today I paid my last huge chunk to my credit cards.

I'm proud to say ... I'm 100% debt free!

It feels so good!

No car payment and finally no credit card debt.  I can finally start banking some serious money.

17 Weeks

This week has been a good one.  Last weekend my hubs was kind enough to venture to the Mall of America with me so I could go to Gap Maternity. I was on a mission to find cute skinny jeans.  I picked up a regular dark wash and then a pair of white ones for the spring/summer.  I love the way they fit.  I have read some reviews on how most people don't like the way Gap maternity skinny jeans fit so I was nervous trying them on.  But I had success.  I scooped up two shirts as well as soon as I learned that everything was 30% off.  Must have been my lucky day.  And for no good reason at all the sales girl who rang me up gave me an extra 10% off... just because.

Obviously this made me very happy.

The hubs was also very happy with my savings.

We also went to Ikea to get some ideas for the house.  I found a huge floor mirror that I love.  It was $200.  Not too shabby since I was convinced I was going to buy one from West Elm for $350.  Not anymore.  Thank you Ikea for saving me $150.

This week I've been feeling really good.  And it's just in time since we are gearing up for a busy weekend in Chicago.  Lots of traveling is in store for us as well as visiting with many family members we haven't seen since Christmas.  It's going to be fun.  Nobody has really seen me with a belly yet so it will be fun to see their reactions.

Today marks week 17.  Baby N is now the size of an onion!  I still haven't felt him or her yet.  I am getting really anxious for that time to come.  I have definitely popped more this week.  Although there are some days when I definitely feel larger than others.  2 of my co-workers were sweet enough to tell me this week that I am such a cute little pregnant lady and also that I'm all belly.  Keep the compliments up ladies! :)

How far along? 17 Weeks
Maternity clothes?  Still just rocking the maternity leggings.  Altho now that I have my new white skinny jeans I can't wait until I can finally wear them.
Stretch marks?  No
Sleep:  Sleeping great!  Especially now that we have had the windows open at night.  The fresh air makes me sleep like a log!
Best moment this week:  About 40 minutes ago my BFF just gave me some super exciting news!  It seriously made my week!
Miss Anything?  I'm definitely going to miss having a drink this weekend while we celebrate my in-laws 60th birthdays.
Movement:  Nothing yet.  :(  I'm getting antsy!
Food cravings:  Reese's peanut butter eggs.  Ok, maybe it's only a craving because they are in stores now but I can't help not leaving Target without them.
Anything making you queasy or sick:  Nothing lately!  Altho I'm still steering clear of store bought lettuce.
Have you started to show yet:  I'm gonna go with yes!
Gender:  Banking on a girl still.
Labor Signs:  No
Belly Button in or out?  In
Wedding rings on or off?  On
Happy or Moody most of the time:  Happy!
Looking forward to:  Spending the weekend with family!

16 Weeks

Friday, March 9, 2012

Hello 16 weeks!  Baby N is now the size of an avocado!  This week's email stated "Baby’s starting to be able to hear your voice -- and she’ll recognize it at birth -- so feel free to chat her up."  I'll be honest.  I haven't chatted her up yet.  It feels a little odd to me still.  So this morning I gave it a whirl on my way to work.  I told her all about the new house we are building, how she's going to love playing in our huge backyard, that the park is so close to our home and I plan on taking her there every chance I get, and I told her all about Tiko and how I envision them being best buddies.  I didn't get any flutters after our chat but I would like to think she gave me a thumbs up :)

Here is my 16 week shot from yesterday morning.

And another from this morning.  This is a clear indication that I wear grey way too much, that I need to call my stylist ASAP to get my hair done and also I need a new case for my phone - so over the pink.

I definitely look bigger in yesterday's shot.  Perhaps it's the baggy poncho I'm wearing today that hides my bump today.

How far along?  16 weeks, 1 day.
Maternity clothes?   A little here and there.  Pretty sure I’ll love my maternity leggings this entire pregnancy.
Stretch marks? Nope.
Sleep:   Yes please!  I was doing so good for a while being able to stay up until 10:00 ish however the past few days I’ve been snoozing on the couch at about 8:00/8:30 every night.
Best moment this week:  Some top secret news from my BFF.  Fingers and toes are crossed for her!
Have you told family and friends:  Yes!
Miss Anything?  My jeans.  I love rocking the leggings but on occasion I miss wearing my favorite jeans.  I could definitely still wear them with the belly band, but it’s just not comfortable for me.

Movement:  Not yet – hopefully flutters soon!
Food cravings:  Honestly, I haven’t had any this week!

Anything making you queasy or sick:  Along with the store bought lettuce, sometimes brushing my teeth makes me gag a little.  This is a first for me!
Have you started to show yet:  Yep, I got a baby bump

Gender prediction:  Girl.
Labor Signs:  No
Belly Button in or out?  In
Wedding rings on or off?  On
Happy or Moody most of the time:  Happy!
Looking forward to:  Feeling the flutters!

My Senior Dog

Thursday, March 8, 2012

Last year, when Tiko turned 7, the vet informed me he was now considered a "senior".  What?  Really?  At 7?  Come on!  He has way too much spunk for me to even consider him a senior.  I know in dog years he's like 49 or something crazy but I just couldn't wrap my head around him becoming a "senior".

Over the last year we have noticed some changes in Tik.  He's slowing down a little, sleeps longer, is definitely more lazy and perfers to lay in the yard and watch the birds instead of going on long walks.  On top of all of that last year he was diagnosed as having arthritis in his back leg.  This has resulted him in using that leg less, limping more often and definitely not walking as far as he once would/could.  So because of his arthritis we have been giving him joint pills daily.  They seemed to be doing the trick.  Up until I needed to purchase a new bottle of pills.  $94?  You have to be kidding me.  That's a lot of money.  So sadly, the past few months (by few I mean 6) he has been off his joint pills and I can definitely tell the difference.  His leg is a lot more stiff.

Yesterday at Tiko's "senior wellness exam" the vet said it seems like his arthritis is getting a little worse.  This makes me so sad.  I feel like a horrible doggy mom.  Instead of splurging on that new shirt at Target or going out to lunch twice a week I should have saved that money for Tiko's joint meds.

I coughed up the money yesterday and purchased a new bottle of joint meds.  On top of that the vet now wants me to give him ... wait for it ... fish oil pills.  Really?  Seems kinda silly to me.  But they are suppose to help with his inflammation of his arthritis.  So, of course, I purchased those as well.  And on top of that we now have pills to give him to help manage his pain level.  Our poor Tiko is now taking 5 pills every morning.  The fact that he's a senior has now set in.

Aside from his arthritis I'm happy to report that he is in tip top shape.  He even has lost a few pounds and is at a perfectly healthy weight.  We are nearing his 8th birthday and I would like to think (and hope) he has a solid 5+ more years of a happy and healthy life with us.  I know life is going to get pretty busy here shortly with a new house and new baby.  But I have every intention make sure to give Tiko the extra attention and belly rubs he needs and deserves.

Pregnant with the Celebs

Monday, March 5, 2012

I'm happy to be pregnant next to a few of my favorite celebs...

Kristin Cavallari.  Either you love her or hate her.  Most hate her.  But I am happy to say I'm a huge fan.  I loved her on "Laguna Beach" and "The Hills" (yes, I'm not ashamed to admit I watched faithfully).

Vanessa Minnillo who just announced this morning that her & Nick are expecting.

Kourtney Kardashian.  Also known as my favorite Kardashian.

Hilary Duff.  So wholesome and cute.  I love her style!

And I can't forget to mention my ultimate favorite. JSimps. She has always and will always be my favorite.

15 Weeks

Friday, March 2, 2012

15 weeks!  Whoo hoo!!  Our little lemon has been up graded to a navel orange!  One week closer to feel her/him move.  I'm so excited for that.  I can't wait to start feeling her/him kick, hiccup, move around, dance...  I've read that you'll be able to feel movement somewhere between 16-22 weeks.  I'm hoping it's sooner rather than later for our little navel orange.

Here's my 15w1d shots taken in the bathroom at work today.  Nice bathroom huh?

I feel like my belly is really starting to round out and pop a little! I won't lie, I've been so self-conscience this whole pregnancy with showing earlier than some of my friends.  But my doctor reassured me at my last appointment that I shouldn't stress.  Everyone obviously starts showing differently and every pregnancy is different.  And, let's be honest, I'm 5 foot 3 inches and I have a tiny torso so in reality, there isn't anywhere else for it to go other than out.  At least now I'm out of the "is she getting chubby?" stage.  I definitely look pregnant.  And I've been enjoying wearing tighter shirts to show off the bump.

When they say your second trimester is your best, they weren't kidding.  I am feeling so much better and am really enjoying watching my bump grow - even if I do seem a little skeptical at times.  It's hard going from always being thin to gaining a few lbs and seeing your stomach hang over your pants!  It's taken me a while to finally embrace it.  I might as well since it's not going to get smaller anytime soon!

How far along?  15 weeks, 1 day.
Maternity clothes? Still rocking my leggings daily and loving it.
Stretch marks?  Nope.
Sleep:  I've purchased a humidifier and FINALLY I can breathe at night making me sleep even better.
Best moment this week:  Finalizing our electric plans for the new house.  I know, it doesn't sound that exciting to the average person.  But, it's one step closer to finalizing all plans for our new home.
Have you told family and friends: Yes!
Miss Anything?  Heels.  I always thought I'd be that girl to wear heels my entire pregnancy (a la JSimps) but I've come to love flats.  I've taken the comfort over fashion approach for once in my life.
Movement:  Not yet.
Food cravings:  None this week.  Altho I'm thoroughly enjoying my Lucky Charms every morning.  Can't get enough!
Anything making you queasy or sick:  Store bought lettuce - still!  I hope this ends soon.
Have you started to show yet:  Yep, finally starting to look pregnant and not chubby.
Gender prediction:  Girl.
Labor Signs:  No
Belly Button in or out?  In
Wedding rings on or off?  On
Happy or Moody most of the time:  Happy!
Looking forward to:
A low key weekend with the Hubs.
